This is the first of what I’m sure will be many opportunities to share my thoughts, now that I have been lucky enough to join the amazing team at Innovating Minds CIC.
Before I even start to talk about the task that lies ahead, I must applaud Dr Asha Patel, Founder and CEO who created such an amazing purpose driven organisation from scratch. I am deeply aware that I am the first leader of the business who is not Dr Patel and I understand the responsibility that brings. Asha’s vision is so much more than a company. It is about changing the way children and young people are supported during and after times of adversity, nationally.
Innovating Minds isn’t just about the children either, it’s about supporting the adults that are faced with the sometimes-overwhelming task of supporting children and young people, day in day out. It’s about creating mentally healthy environments where everyone can thrive, that are long term sustainable solutions.
It’s not just Asha that is working toward this vision, but every member of our team, every senior mental health leader in a school that we have had the pleasure of training and every one of our Facilitators that deliver our range of Healing Together Programmes. Whether they are supporting children who have been affected by domestic abuse, those experiencing ongoing stress and anxiety or those struggling to cope with their angry feelings, we are here for it, supporting and cheering them on every step of the way.
Over the last few months, I have been busy setting up the Regional Management team, of which you will meet in the coming weeks, to ensure we work strategically in each area to build the network of Healing Together Facilitators. Our primary objective is to enable easy access for children and young people, to someone they trust in a place they already feel safe, at the earliest opportunity.
Since taking the post of Managing Director I have been getting under the skin of the organisation, talking with the amazing team, and seeing what makes it tick. Together with the Management Team I will work to identify challenges and opportunities for Innovating Minds to grow and increase the impact we have for all.
