Following support from Innovating Minds, Abasi has gained confidence and hope for the future'

Abasi Came to the UK from Somalia, he had a job as a forklift truck driver, however he had difficulties at work and had to leave.  Abasi had been unemployed for 21 months when he began working with Innovating Minds, on the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) Evolve programme.

Abasi Struggles with Anxiety, Depression and PTSD.  All of which have a significant effect on his daily life.  As a result of these mental health issues, he was referred to Innovating Minds by 'Together for mental Wellbeing'.

Abasi received support from Innovating Minds for 5 months.  In that time, he received 1-1 Therapy sessions to improve his mental health issues through developing coping strategies, work around sleep hygiene, support with employability skills (such as CV writing and job applications) and encouragement to enter into training.

Following support from Innovating Minds, Abasi has gained confidence and hope for the future.  He feels that the work on his anger and sleep hygiene has really benefited him.  He has completed a Level 2 IT course and has been referred onto Eaton House for further support for his PTSD.

Abasi had this to say about the support he received from Innovating Minds:

“I feel very good when I am with Holly who is the office representative”
